Food Business News - Odyssey sets sights on clean label energy with new product

FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA. — Functional beverage maker Odyssey Elixir is debuting a new line of clean label, highly caffeinated energy drinks.

Each 12-oz beverage in the aptly named 222 line features 222 mg of caffeine from green tea, 1,500 mg of lion’s mane, 1,250 mg of cordyceps mushrooms and no added sugars or artificial sweeteners. The formulation is designed to provide mood-boosting benefits, mental clarity and sustained energy without the side effects associated with energy drinks made with artificial and sugar additives, according to the company.

“The energy drink industry was overdue for a major change and Odyssey is offering a first-of-its-kind functional energy drink,” said Scott Frohman, founder and chief executive officer of Odyssey. “The response from consumers has been incredible, showcasing the desire for a healthier energy solution. This product supports sustainable, long-lasting energy without the crash and jitters commonly found in typical energy drinks.”

Joining the company’s portfolio of sparkling energy and hydration drinks, the 222 line initially will include blue raspberry, cherry lime, strawberry watermelon and pineapple mango. The beverages are now available in select Walmart, Erewhon and 7-Eleven stores, with plans for further retail locations in the future.
